HIGHBURY WEST AREA
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Islington proposes to build a speed hump on Aubert Park under
Section 90 of the Highways Act 1980, a zebra crossing on Drayton Park under Section 23 and a lorry ban in the Highbury West
Area under Section 6 of and Part IV of schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Local Government
Act 1985.
2. The speed hump is designed to improve pedestrian and road safety by slowing down vehicles and reducing the levels of traffic.
3. The speed hump would be constructed and maintained with a maximum height of 75 millimetres and a maximum length of 3.7metres
and extending across the full width of the carriageway. The location of the hump is 2 metres east of the party wall of Nos.
41 and 43 Aubert Park.
4. A new Zebra Crossing would be constructed on Drayton Park.
5. The centre line of the Zebra Crossing will be located 1 metre north of the southern boundary wall of No. 68 Drayton Park and
the zig zags for the crossing shall extend by 20.12 metres north and 20.12 metres south of that centre line.
6. The general effect of the Prescribed Routes would be to introduce a lorry ban in the Highbury Area to include the following
streets: Ambler Road, Arvon Road (north section), Aubert Park, Aubert Road, Avenall Road, Benwell Road, Bryantwood Road, Chatterton
Road, Conewood Street, Drayton Park, Elfort Road, Elphinstone Road, Elwood Street, Gillespie Road, Hamilton Park, Hamilton
Park West, Highbury Hill, Horsell Road (north section), Legard Road, Leigh Road, Lucerne Road, Martineau Road, Monsell Road,
Panmure Close, Plimsoll Road, Prah Road, Romilly Road, Ronalds Road (centre section) Roseleigh Avenue, St Thomas’s Road, Stavordale
Road, Whistler Street, Witherington Road.
7. The lorry ban would prohibit goods vehicles (the maximum gross weight of which exceeds 7.5 tonnes) from entering certain residential
streets in the Highbury West Area, except for access.
8. A copy of the Proposed Order and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order are available for inspection
during normal office hours until the end of six weeks from the date on which the Order is made or, as the case may be, the
Council decides not to make the Order at the following location:

9. Any person who wishes to object or to make other representations about the proposed Order should send a statement in writing,

within the period of twenty one days from the date on which this Notice is published.
