NOTICE OF DETERMINATION

A21 NORTHBRIDGE STREET

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT: DETERMINATION BY THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR TRANSPORT UNDER SECTION 105A (3) OF THE HIGHWAYS ACT 1980

The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he has determined that the proposal to improve speed limit signage on the A21 at Northbridge Street, is a relevant project within the meaning of section 105A(1) of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, as the site of the proposed works lies within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

The proposal is not subject to environmental impact assessment in accordance with Part VA of the Highways Act 1980 implementing Directive 85/337/EEC as amended by Directive 97/11/EC.

The purpose of the scheme is to modify the speed limit to improve road safety. The improvements will involve some minor vegetation clearance and consist of the application of red high friction surfacing and ‘SLOW’ markings on the carriageway, replacement signage on existing posts and new signage on existing posts.
