THE LONDON BOROUGH OF SOUTHWARK (20 M.P.H. SPEED LIMIT) (GREAT SUFFOLK STREET) (NO. 1) TRAFFIC ORDER 2009

1.  NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Southwark (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”), on 4th June 2009 made the above-mentioned Orders under sections 6, 45, 46, 49, 84(1), 84(2) and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

2.  The general effect of the (Parking Places) Order will be to revise the layout of permit holders’ and ‘pay and display’ parking places in GREAT SUFFOLK STREET to accommodate the construction of kerb build-outs and a speed table, so as to provide:-

(a)  four ‘pay and display’ parking places on the north-east side, outside Nos. 101-107 Great Suffolk Street, and seven ‘pay and display’ parking places on the south-west side, outside Nos. 156-168 Great Suffolk Street, in which vehicles may be left for a maximum stay of 4 hours between the hours of 8.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays, provided that they display a valid ticket from a ticket parking meter, and provided that no vehicle may return to a parking place within 2 hours; and

(b)  one permit holders’ parking place, 14.5 metres in length, on the north-east side, outside Bittern House, in which vehicles may be left without time limit between the hours of 8.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays, provided that they display either a valid residents’ permit or a valid business permit issued in respect of that vehicle, or a valid visitors’ permit.

3.  The general effect of the (Free Parking Places) (Disabled Persons) Order will be, in GREAT SUFFOLK STREET to provide a disabled persons’ parking place on the south-west side, outside No. 174 Great Suffolk Street in which a vehicle may be left for a maximum stay of 4 hours if it displays a valid disabled persons’ badge, and provided that no vehicle may return to a parking place within 2 hours.

4.  The general effect of the (Loading Bays) Order will be, in GREAT SUFFOLK STREET to provide loading bays on the north-east side, outside No. 109 Great Suffolk Street, and on the south-west side, outside No. 176 Great Suffolk Street, in which vehicles may load or unload without time limit.

5.  The general effect of the (20 m.p.h. Speed Limit) Order will be to impose a maximum speed limit of 20 miles per hour for all vehicles in GREAT SUFFOLK STREET, between the south-eastern kerb-line of Sudrey Street and a point 4 metres south-east of the south-eastern wall of No. 176 Great Suffolk Street.

6.  Copies of the Orders, which will come into operation on 8th June 2009, and of all other relevant documents are available for inspection until the end of a period of six weeks from the date the Orders were made from Network Development (Traffic Orders), Southwark Council, Environment & Housing, Public Realm, P.O. 7.  Any persons desiring to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within six weeks of the date on which the Orders were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
