BLUDELL STREET AREA 20 MPH ZONE

THE ISLINGTON (PRESCRIBED ROUTES) (NO. *) TRAFFIC ORDER 200*

1.  NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Islington proposes to make the above mentioned Order under Section 6 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Local Government Act 1985, and to introduce a raised zebra crossing and sinusoidal road humps under Sections 90 and 23 of the Highways Act 1980. The measures are being introduced to reduce vehicle speeds and increase pedestrian safety around the Robert Blair School in Blundell Street.

2.  The general effect of the above-mentioned Order would be to introduce a 20 Mph speed limit for all vehicles proceeding in the entire lengths of Blundell Street, Brandon Road, Bunning Way, Frederica Street and Sutterton Road.

Furthermore, the London Borough of Islington proposes to introduce:

(a)  Sinusoidal road humps (length 3.9 metres, occupying the full width of the carriageway, and having a maximum height of 75 millimetres) in:

(i)  Brandon Road, with its mid-point at a point 5 metres north-east of the north-eastern boundary wall of No. 3 Brandon Road;

(ii)  Blundell Street, with its mid-point at a point 3 metres south-west of the south-western boundary wall of No. 70 Blundell Street;

(iii)  Blundell Street, with its mid-point at a point 1.5 metres north-east of the north-eastern boundary wall of No. 23 Blundell Street; and

(iv)  Blundell Street, with its mid-point at a point 2.5 metres north-east of the north-eastern boundary wall of No. 1 Blundell Street

(b)  A raised zebra crossing (2 x 1.9 metre ramps, 6 metre plateau, occupying the full width of the carriageway, and having a maximum height of 75 millimetres) in Blundell Street with its mid-point at a point 33.2 metres south-west of the south-western kerb-line of Conistone Way.

3.  A copy of the proposed Order, a plan showing the location of the sinusoidal road humps and raised zebra crossing and the Council’s Statement of Reasons for proposing to make the Orders, can be inspected during normal office hours until the end of a period of 6 weeks from the date on which the Orders are made or as the case may be, the Council decide not to make the Orders, at the following location:

4.  Any person who wishes to object or to make other representations about any of the proposed Orders should send a statement in writing, specifying the grounds on which they are made to Public Realm, Islington Borough Council, 222 Upper Street, London N1 1XR (quoting reference TMO/Blundell Street Area 20mph Zone), within the period of twenty one days from the date on which this Notice is published.
