TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR TRANSPORT hereby gives notice that she proposes to make an Order under Section 247 of the above Act, which will authorise the stopping up of areas of highway at Kings Esplanade and Hove Street South, King Alfred Site, Kingsway, in the City of Brighton & Hove.

IF THE ORDER IS MADE, the stopping up will be authorised only in order to enable the development described in the schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with the planning permission granted to Hepher Dixon, on 12 July 2007 by Brighton & Hove City Council under reference BH2006/03429.

COPIES OF THE DRAFT ORDER AND RELEVANT PLAN MAY BE INSPECTED at all reasonable hours during the 28 days commencing on 23rd October 2007 at the Jubilee Library, Jubilee Street, Brighton BN1 1GE and may be obtained free of charge from the Transport East Team, Government Office for the South East, (quoting reference GOSE/029/001/BRHV/2007/001) at the address below.

During the above-mentioned period of 28 days, anyone may object to the making of the Order by writing to the Secretary of State, quoting reference GOSE/029/001/BRHV/2007/001 and addressing their objection to the Transport East Team, Government Office for the South East, Bridge House, 2nd Floor, 1 Walnut Tree Close, Guildford GU1 4GA. Please bear in mind that any objections received will be passed to the applicant and other people affected by it. The applicant or their representative may contact the objector directly to try to resolve the objection. The substance of the objection should relate to the loss of public right of way and not the merits of development taking place.

SCHEDULE

Mixed use development comprising of a new public sports centre, 751 residential units (including affordable housing) in two towers and eight other buildings, ground floor commercial uses including retail, restaurants, cafes and drinking establishments, basement car parking, doctors surgery, police office and public toilets.
