NOTICE OF APPLICATIONS TO VARY A LICENCE TO ABSTRACT WATER

Take notice that ICI Chemicals & Polymers Ltd., of The Heath, Runcorn, Cheshire WA7 4QF, is applying to the Environment Agency to vary licence serial number 25/68/009/009 which authorises the abstraction of water from the Manchester Ship Canal at National Grid Reference SJ 497 806 at Weston Point, Runcorn, Cheshire. The variation being applied for is to increase the current licenced quantities from 135,050,000 cubic metres per year, 370,000 cubic metres per day, 15,416 cubic metres per hour to 206,000,000 cubic metres per year, 624,000 cubic metres per day, 26,000 cubic metres per hour. The water will be used in a new combined heat and power plant. Water will be returned to the Weston Canal after use. A copy of the applications and any map, plans and other documents submitted with them may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at ICI Runcorn Site headquarters between 16th December 1999 and 20th January 2000. Any person who wishes to make representations about the applications should do so in writing to the Environment Agency, North West Region, Appleton House, 430 Birchwood Boulevard, Birchwood, Warrington WA3 7WD, before the end of the said period, quoting the name of the applicant.
