The London Gazette has published a diverse range of official information in its almost 350 year history. Newspapers found in the archive include official despatches from the Battles of Trafalgar and Waterloo, the death of Napoleon on St Helena and the birth of HM Queen Elizabeth II.
In addition, the newspaper includes much that reflects the lives of ordinary people. Events gazetted include:
